Berkshire County Arc Receives Second HUD Grant

Berkshire County Arc is proud to announce that it has been awarded with a $560,000 HUD grant which  will  be used for the construction of a new, fully accessible residence that will be the home of four individuals with developmental disabilities.  This award is the second of its kind to be given to Berkshire County Arc, and is one of two grants to be given to programs in Massachusetts under HUD's Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities program this year.  This program provides capital advance financing and project rental assistance to nonprofit organizations to develop and operate supportive housing for people with disabilities, and therefore aims to enable these individuals to live as independently as possible.

Berkshire County Arc also received a HUD grant last year to fund the rebuilding of it's supervised apartments;  this project will begin in the spring.  The agency feels very fortunate to have the financial ability to provide better homes for the individuals that it supports.
