Among his many accomplishments and services to the community are Ken's roles as President of the Association for Developmental Disability Providers, long-standing member of the MCHSP Board of Directors, a strong supporter of Berkshire United Way, and a board member on the Board of Directors for the Counseling Center of the Berkshires. Ken Singer also helped to open the Berkshire Toy Library, in collaboration with UCP and Girls Incorporated, is an advocate for the Boundless Playground initiative, and has been instrumental in the planning of Berkshire Disability Pride Day and Legislative Breakfasts that have come to be annual collaborative events for area human service agencies and the people that they support. Ken also oversaw the project that in result awarded Berkshire County Arc with a $1.4 million dollar federal grant from HUD, which will be used to build new badly needed apartment buildings for Berkshire County Arc individuals. As an agency, Berkshire County Arc would like to congratulate Ken Singer on his accomplishment of receiving the Raymond P. Brien Leadership Award.

Many athletes from around the state gathered in Boston this June, and in Worcester this March to compete in the Winter and Summer Games of 2004. The weather was beautiful in Boston, where athletes won many medals in events like aquatics, track and field, sailing and rollerskating. In Worcester the weather was not as nice for outdoor sports, however it didn't stop the athletes from getting their skis and snowboards together for competition on the slopes of Wachusett Ski Resort. There were many happy faces this year, because everyone did his or her best. Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed. You are all winners!
