45th Anniversary ( cont.)
      After acknowledging the contributions of past President Bill Engle, BCARC next recognized its long affiliation with The United Way with an award accepted by United Way’s Executive Director Dan Dillon.   Longtime board member and employee Claire Estabrook, who had traveled from Florida to be a part of the festivities, was  then honored.
Joyce Degroseilliers took up the narration, but only after having received an award for her long and distinguished service to BCARC as family member, employee, Human Rights Committee member, Board member, Board Assistant Treasurer, and Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee.
      Past President Larry Tower  received an award for his perseverance and foresight in opening BCARC’s first residential program, Copley House, while Ed Therrien was honored  as one of the first residents there. Also, Jim Cuillo, the Area

Director of the DMR at the time of the closing of the institutions, was noted for his strong support of establishing  residential programs.
     Dr. Benjamin Ricci was honored  for his leadership in assuring that dignity and respect was shown to all individuals with disabilities.

Tom Flynn and Joyce Desgroseillers

      BCARC’s President during these exciting times was Tom Flynn.  Mr.  Flynn continues to serve BCARC as President of Omega Corporation, which maintains all the property serving the agency.  Described as a mainstay of the agency, Don George also was applauded for 15 years’ service as treasurer. 
    Leslie Engle represented  all the individuals who moved into BCARC homes and apartments during the 80’s.
