Berkshire County ARC Celebrates 49th Annual Meeting

   Berkshire County Arc celebrated 49 years of service to the community at its Annual Meeting on June 6th at the ITAM Lodge in Pittsfield.   
     Following a greeting by
Board President Dr. Mark Pettus and an invocation by Rev. William Furey, a business meeting preceding the ceremonies honoring BCARC individuals and employees for their outstanding accomplishments, elected Board members and officers for the coming year.   Elected to office were Dr. Mark Pettus, President; Carol Craighead, Vice-President; Joe Woitkoski, Secretary/Treasurer; Joyce Desgroseilliers, Assistant Treasurer; and Kathleen Flynn-Kasuba, Clerk. Lisa George, Debra Jarck, Steven Valenti, Kathy Clark, Marka Neary DeLeo and Suzanne Merritt were other board members elected to another term.

Executive Director Ken Singer presented awards to both BCARC employees and individuals for their contributions and successes over the past year within the organization. 
     Individuals cited for their outstanding achievements were
Francis Cahalan-Work  Achievement Award, Barbara Dudley-Citizenship Award,  Kathy Clark-Joan Grant Self-Advocate Award, and Elizabeth Affenito-Achievement Award in Personal Growth.
     Denise Connors
was honored as Employee of the Year.  Other BCARC employees honored for their exemplary service included Brenda Pettit-Outstanding Residential Employee, Maryann Elias-Outstanding Administrative Employee, Kristie Clark-Outstanding Day Habilitation Services Employee, Laverne Robinson-Peters-Outstanding Family Support Employee, and Martha Panagopoulos-Citizen Advocate of the Year.
     Air Tite Holders, Inc.
was named BCARC Employer of the Year for its support of disabled people in the workplace. Old Country Buffet was cited also  for its exemplary record in employing individuals with disabilities.
     Mr.
Robert Wells, representing Berkshire Bank, was recognized for his longtime continuing support of Berkshire County Arc and its mission.
