     Following the awards ceremony BCARC employees from four departments spoke about individuals and BCARC programs. Carol Brenner Ford, Program Director for Southgate Day Program spoke about her relationship with one young man with whom she works. Ray DiNicola, Senior Activities Director told about a man that he works with and about the activities the people involved in the Senior Activities program participate in within the local community. Bob Gray, Advocate, gave a heartfelt presentation on the Berkshire and Southern Berkshire Self-Advocates and their 10th anniversary. Kyle Harvey, Employment Manager, introduced the new AEN video, which was viewed by annual meeting attendees.

     Kenneth W. Singer, Executive Director of Berkshire County Arc, was recently honored as the recipient of Jericho’s 2005 Humanitarian Award in recognition of services to people with disabilities by the Diocese of Springfield. The award recognizes individuals and organizations for their tireless efforts to “promote participation of persons with disabilities for a better life and working with them on a daily basis to form a bond and a hope for the future.”
     BCARC has worked with Jericho for over 25 years providing programs supporting individuals with disabilities. Through Ken’s leadership BCARC has “given hope and pride to the community, to parents, and to the

many individuals with disabilities that they serve.” Bishop Timothy McDonnell and Bishop Emeritus Joseph Maguire of the Diocese of Springfield presented Ken with his award at a celebration dinner at Hamel’s Summit View Banquet &
Meeting House in Holyoke where he was recognized for his leadership and commitment “to further the goals of those with special needs, for his dedication and service to his community, and for recognizing the value and dignity for persons with disabilities.” Also in attendance were Christine Singer, Dennis Radford, BCARC, Patricia Wright, BCARC, Steven Jacobs and Gerry Gelinas, both individuals supported by BCARC. Congratulations, Ken on an award exemplifying 25 years of dedication to Berkshire County Arc and people with disabilities.
