Berkshire County Arc’s Day Habilitation Programs
The aim of Day Habilitation Programs is to increase an individual’s independence and ability to assume adult social roles through developmental skills training and clinical supports.
Berkshire County Arc serves more than 150 individuals in three Day Habilitation programs:
- Center for Development (Lee, MA)
- Crossroads Center for Enrichment (Pittsfield, MA)
- Social Development Center (Dalton, MA)
Services at our Day Habilitation Centers are person-centered and designed to meet the specific needs of each person we support. Day Habilitation Service Plans are developed in consultation with qualified and licensed therapeutic staff (including Physical Therapists, an Occupational Therapist, and Speech and Language Pathologists.) Each person also receives nursing support, including health status monitoring and coordination with other health care professionals.
Our outstanding and dedicated support staff work to provide individualized skills training in the following developmental areas:
- Self-help
- Communication
- Sensory motor and mobility
- Independent living
- Social development
- Affective development
- Behavior development
Our Day Habilitation Programs foster opportunities for socialization, and celebrate our members’ many gifts. In addition to quality active treatment and attentive assistance with activities of daily living, our participants enjoy many enriching experiences:
- Visual and performing arts classes and performances, including high-quality programming through Community Access to the Arts and other community volunteers and organizations
- Games, parties, and other social and recreational events
- Exercise and movement, including yoga and dance classes
- The chance to give back to the community through regular community service opportunities, and special community service events
Our programs are accredited by CARF (Council on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and we are licensed by the State of Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS).
